ALLOY 20 is a corrosion-resistant alloy with many excellent properties. It has good resistance to oxidizing and moderate reducing corrosion, excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking and good resistance to localized corrosion. It has satisfactory corrosion resistance in many chemical process media.

Alloy 20 metallographic structure:
The alloy is treated at 1120℃ for 2h, and only TiN nitride and Cr7C3 carbide are present. After long-term aging at 870℃ and 1500℃, the structure is still Cr7C3 and TiN, indicating that the structure of the alloy is stable.
Alloy 20 process performance and requirements:
1. The alloy has good hot working properties, and the ingot forging heating temperature is 1110℃~1140℃.
2. The average grain size of the alloy is closely related to the degree of deformation and final forging temperature of the forging.
3. The alloy has good welding properties and can be connected by various methods such as arc welding, argon arc welding, resistance welding and brazing. Large or complex welded structures should be annealed at 870℃ for 1h after fusion welding to eliminate welding stress.
4. The alloy must be machined after heat treatment. Due to the work hardening of the material, it is advisable to use a lower cutting speed and heavy feed than the processing of low-alloy standard austenitic stainless steel to be able to machine under the cold-work hardened surface.
Application of ALLOY 20:
ALLOY 20 can be used in hydrometallurgy and sulfuric acid industrial equipment, etc.
Alloy 20 alloy/NS143 corrosion resistant alloy is a chromium-nickel-molybdenum-copper solid solution strengthened iron-nickel base alloy, which is characterized by resistance to oxidation-reduction composite medium corrosion, and has good corrosion resistance in sulfuric acid, nitric acid and its mixed acid and other redox media. Especially in the dilute sulfuric acid (concentration below 30%) environment, it can best play its advantages of good corrosion resistance, has excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking and good resistance to local corrosion, and has satisfactory corrosion resistance in many chemical process media, including highly corrosive inorganic acid solutions, chlorine and various chloride-containing media, dry chlorine, formic acid and acetic acid, acid anhydride, seawater and brine, etc.
It is used in sulfuric acid environment and sulfuric acid solution containing halogen ions and metal ions, such as hydrometallurgy and sulfuric acid industrial equipment.
This steel has excellent hot working, cold working and welding properties, and is also easy to cast.
It is mainly used in various chemical processing (such as oil refining, pharmaceuticals, fertilizers and synthetic rubber, etc.), food processing, textiles, papermaking and hydrometallurgy industries, reactors, heat exchangers, storage tanks, pumps, valves and other components used under sulfuric acid, nitric acid and sulfuric acid mixed acid and phosphoric acid and other reducing media conditions.
