Screen performance terms
Screen is also known as filter, steel mesh, wire mesh, wire mesh, woven mesh, etc.
① Density. Also known as screen density, fabric density. That is, the number of wires (threads) per unit length in the warp and weft directions of the screen. The number of warp wires per unit length in the weft direction is the warp density, and the number of weft wires per unit length in the warp direction is the weft density. When the warp density of the screen is equal to the weft density, the screen density is equal to the mesh number stated in the screen specification.
② Breaking strength. The maximum force that the screen sample (usually 20cm long and 5cm wide) resists until it breaks in the tensile test can be expressed in gf (gram force), kgf (kilogram force), N (Newton), etc. ③ Elongation at break
. The elongation of the screen sample when it is stretched to the maximum load and breaks.
④ Elongation at break. The percentage of the elongation at break of the screen sample to the length of the sample before stretching.
⑤ Elasticity. The screen is deformed by external force, and the deformation disappears after the external force is removed, and the performance of being able to return to its original shape.
⑥ Slow elasticity. The screen is deformed by external force, and can return to its original shape after a considerable period of time after the external force is removed.
⑦ Antistatic performance. The performance of the screen to resist the generation or accumulation of static electricity.
⑧ Wear resistance. The performance of the screen to withstand external wear. It is generally expressed by the number of times the sample is repeatedly worn and broken, or by the degree of change in appearance, strength, thickness, weight, etc. after a certain number of wear.
When describing the performance of the screen, other terms that are often used include water resistance, shrinkage, chemical resistance, aging resistance, etc. In screen printing and plate making, these properties are generally described qualitatively; when quantitative description is required, the numerical value should be obtained through testing.
