Technical parameters and chemical composition of 304, 321, 304L stainless steel wire mesh

304L  is a variant of 304 stainless steel with a lower carbon content and is used in applications where welding is required. The lower carbon content minimizes the precipitation of carbides in the heat-affected zone near the weld, which may cause intergranular corrosion (weld corrosion) of stainless steel in certain environments.

The mechanical properties are as follows: tensile strength  σb (MPa) ≥ 520 ;

Conditional yield strength  σ0.2 (MPa) ≥ 205 ;

Elongation δ5 (%) ≥ 40;

Sectional shrinkage  ψ (%) ≥ 60 ;

Hardness: HB≤187HB;HRB≤90HV;≤200;

304 stainless steel is a universal stainless steel material with stronger anti-rust performance than 200 series stainless steel materials. It is also relatively good in high temperature resistance, and the general use temperature limit is less than 650 ℃. 304 stainless steel has excellent stainless corrosion resistance and good intergranular corrosion resistance. For oxidizing acid, the experiment shows that: in nitric acid below the boiling temperature with a concentration of ≤65% , 304 stainless steel has strong corrosion resistance. It also has good corrosion resistance to alkaline solutions and most organic and inorganic acids.

Material introduction: Ti in 321 stainless steel exists as a stabilizing element, but it is also a heat-resistant steel, which is much better than other stainless steels at high temperatures. 321 stainless steel has good wear resistance in organic and inorganic acids of different concentrations and temperatures, especially in oxidizing media. 

321 stainless steel is a Ni-Cr-Ti type austenitic stainless steel, and its performance is very similar to 304, but due to the addition of titanium, it has better resistance to intergranular corrosion and high temperature strength. The addition of titanium effectively controls the formation of chromium carbide.
