What is a wire mesh demister?

The wire mesh demister is used to remove the mist (droplets) entrained in the gas, recover the expensive droplets (precious materials), or purify the gas to reduce the impurities in the gas.

The principle of wire mesh demister:

It is used to remove the mist (droplets) entrained in the gas, recover expensive droplets (precious materials), or purify the gas to reduce impurities in the gas. Wire mesh demisters are generally made of φ0.10mm~φ0.28mm metal wire or engineering plastics (PP, PTFE, FEP, PVDF, etc.), woven into a wire mesh using a special warp and weft method, and then the woven wire mesh is pressed into a corrugation with a certain angle. The corrugated wire mesh is made into various specifications and sizes. There are many famous manufacturers abroad with a series of wire mesh demisters for different fields. Its mechanism of action is: when the tiny liquid droplets entrained in the gas phase pass through the wire mesh of the wire mesh demister, the droplets hit the demister wire mesh and are adhered or adsorbed. After repeated adsorption of droplets, the extremely small droplets agglomerate and coalesce into large droplets. Under the action of gravity, the droplets move downward along the intersection of the woven wire mesh wires and continue to adsorb the droplets entrained in the gas. The grown droplets flow to the bottom of the demister wire mesh and fall down by the gravity of the droplets themselves. In fact, during the absorption process, the entire wire mesh demister is filled with adsorbed droplets, which enhances the adsorption capacity of the individual metal or engineering plastic wires, so that when working normally, the demisting rate of the demister wire mesh is greatly improved, and the extremely small droplets can be effectively adsorbed and removed. This wire mesh demister has the characteristics of small pressure drop, large specific surface area, and high demisting efficiency. For droplets above 3μm, its demisting efficiency can reach more than 98%.

The new standard has the following changes compared with the original standard.

1. Combine the original three standards into one standard for easy selection.

2. The diameter range and specifications of the demister have been adjusted, and the nominal diameter specifications are appropriately dense.

3. The wire types used in the demister are added, and the basic parameters of the wire mesh are given.

4. Added new material varieties for wire mesh and grille.

5. Added the process calculation content about demister.

The drawer type demister adopts HG and T21586-98 standards, and is composed of several wire mesh defoaming elements, which are inserted into the tower body through guide rails. The characteristics of this demister are that the defoaming elements can be replaced outside the tower body in terms of operation and maintenance, and it is suitable for absorption towers and drying towers of sulfuric acid plants.

The wire mesh demister can be made of domestic or imported high-quality materials: Q235, 304, 304L, 321, 316L, F46, NS-80, nickel wire, titanium wire and alloy materials for users to choose.

It is now widely used in industrial production of chemical industry, petroleum, sulfuric acid, medicine, light industry, metallurgy, machinery, and environmental protection.
