Classification and performance characteristics of structured packing 

Structured packing is a kind of packing that is arranged in a uniform geometric pattern in the tower and neatly stacked. It has been widely used because of its advantages such as large specific surface area, small pressure drop, uniform fluid distribution, and high mass transfer and heat transfer efficiency. The earliest developed was metal structured packing, followed by plastic structured packing, ceramic structured packing and carbon fiber structured packing. Structured packing is mainly divided into: mesh corrugated packing, mesh corrugated packing and plate corrugated packing. The main materials are: 304, 304L, 316, 316L.

The characteristics of stainless steel wire mesh corrugated packing are: high theoretical plate number, large flux, low pressure drop, excellent low-load performance, increase in theoretical tray number and reduction in gas load, almost no low-load binding, large operating flexibility, unclear expansion effect, and can meet accurate requirements, large and high vacuum distillation units. It provides favorable conditions for the distillation separation of difficult separation systems, heat-sensitive systems and high-purity products.

The characteristics of mesh corrugated packing are: Metal mesh corrugated packing is a kind of packing, which is made of metal plate punched and stretched to a specific specification of wax light grid, and generally diamond mesh is formed on its surface, and then punched into corrugated shape. This packing combines the benefits of screen packing and plate wave packing, and has the characteristics of light weight, low pressure and high efficiency.

The characteristics of plate hole packing packaging are: roll hole plate corrugated packaging (also known as perforated plate corrugated packaging), made of 0.1mm~0.12mm metal sheets. Because there are more holes on the surface, the residence time of gas and liquid on the surface of the packing is prolonged, making the gas and liquid in the tower more fully communicated and improving the separation efficiency. The packaging standard is similar to corrugated packaging. The packing pore size is 0.4-0.5mm. It is generally made of corrosion-resistant stainless steel and is used in the petroleum industry, fine chemicals and pharmaceutical equipment.
