A wire mesh is a metal screen or barrier created by intersecting rows and columns of parallel thin wire and welding their resulting intersection points together. A wire mesh may also be crafted by intricately weaving one set of wires over and under another set of perpendicular wires. Depending on the purpose, spacing between these strands varies.

Wire mesh has numerous uses across different industries, including gardening, agricultural, mining, transportation, architectural and industrial fields. It can also be found in daily objects such as strainers, window and door screens, fences, wire baskets, room partitions, decorations and cooking grills, among others. Wire mesh is available in several shapes, sizes and materials.
