Types, models, characteristics and advantages of wire mesh corrugated packing
Wire mesh corrugated packing is known as stainless steel wire mesh packing, chemical packing and structured packing.
Corrugated packing is a general-purpose structured packing. Most of the structured packing currently used in industry belongs to this category. Corrugated packing is a disc-shaped packing composed of many corrugated thin plates. It has a compact structure and regular arrangement. Its specific surface area can be adjusted by the shape of the corrugated structure. The inclination angles of the corrugation to the tower axis are mainly 30° and 45°. Each plate of packing is installed vertically in the tower. When assembling, the adjacent two corrugated plates are stacked in reverse, and the adjacent two plates of packing are arranged at 90°. This mutually perpendicular arrangement makes the rising airflow constantly change direction, and the descending liquid is constantly redistributed. The flow fluid is fully mixed in the tower, so the mass transfer efficiency is high. However, corrugated packing is not suitable for processing materials with high viscosity, easy to aggregate or suspended matter. In addition, the packing is difficult to install and clean, and the cost is also high.
Commonly used models of wire mesh corrugated packing are BX type CY type (250 type, 500 type, 700 type, 900 type, 1000 type)
BX-500 stainless steel wire mesh corrugated packing is particularly suitable for vacuum distillation of heat-sensitive and difficult-to-separate systems, especially for operating pressures below 7KPa, and for conditions where more theoretical plates are required but the pressure drop is low; the total height is expected to be low; the test tower is set up for industrial amplification; the liquid holdup is small; the humidity of the heating medium is limited, etc.
CY-700 stainless steel wire mesh corrugated packing is generally used for isotope separation or precise fractionation of difficult-to-separate systems that require a large number of theoretical plates. It can also be used in situations where the height is strictly limited or high-purity products are required. Examples: nitrotoluene, isopropanol, ethylene oxide, methanol, ethanol, turpentine, C5-C9 synthetic fatty acids, sandalwood and many other petrochemical, fragrance, pharmaceutical, and dye products.
CY-900 stainless steel wire mesh corrugated packing is generally used for isotope separation or precision fractionation of difficult-to-separate systems that require a large number of theoretical plates. It can also be used in situations where the height is strictly limited or high-purity products are required. For example: nitrotoluene, isopropanol, ethylene oxide, methanol, ethanol, turpentine, C5-C9 synthetic fatty acids, sandalwood and many other petrochemical, fragrance, pharmaceutical, and dye products.
CY-1000 stainless steel wire mesh corrugated packing is generally used for isotope separation or precision fractionation of difficult-to-separate systems that require a large number of theoretical plates. It can also be used in situations where the height is strictly limited or high-purity products are required. Examples: nitrotoluene, isopropanol, ethylene oxide, methanol, ethanol, turpentine, C5-C9 synthetic fatty acids, sandalwood and many other petrochemical, fragrance, pharmaceutical, and dye products.

①, high specific surface area, high porosity and light weight. The specific surface area of BX500 stainless steel wire mesh corrugated packing is equivalent to 4.5 times that of 50mm metal ball ring. The specific surface area of ball ring is 120, the porosity is high, and the wire mesh has strong capillary action, which makes it have excellent wetting performance, and the wet porosity is almost equal to the dry porosity;
②, the inclination angle of the steam passage is small, and the resistance along the way is low;
③, the surface of the packing is evenly wetted, and even if the spray density is 0.2mh, it can achieve complete wetting, so the packing efficiency is high;
④, the radial diffusion is good, and the gas-liquid contact is sufficient.
⑤, the pressure loss caused by steam expansion and contraction is small. When the stainless steel wire mesh corrugated packing is operated, the reflux liquid moves in a smooth shape on the surface of the packing and flows down along the mesh surface. Due to the strong capillary action of the wire mesh, a uniform and complete film is formed on the surface of the packing, and the thickness of the liquid film is only 0.08mm. The gas rises through the regularly arranged inclined channels, and the fluid resistance is small, because this kind of packing is staggered 90 degrees with each other, and the gas and liquid phases are evenly distributed on the tower cross section, which is also easier to transfer mass. The stainless steel wire mesh corrugated sheet has small holes, which can enhance the uniform distribution of liquid, reduce dead corners in the packing, especially in small towers, and improve separation efficiency. Wire mesh and mesh number: For wire mesh corrugated packing, the stainless steel wire diameter in my country is usually 0.12 or 0.15mm. The higher the wire mesh number, the easier it is for the liquid to form a film. 60 mesh wire mesh is usually recommended. For larger wire diameters, 40-50 mesh mesh materials can also be used.
